Delby Bragais Presents Spring/Summer 2016 Collection at Gotham Hall during Style Fashion Week New York
New York, New York September 8, 2015 – Award-winning fashion designer for Miss World Philippines 2011 will introduce her Spring/Summer 2016 collection at the inaugural Style Fashion Week in a presentation at Gotham Hall on September 10, 5 PM – 6:30 PM. Delby Bragais specializes in wedding gowns and custom-made dresses for special occasions with an organic made-by-hand feel. Using hand-woven fabrics, hand-made embellishments, and hand-guided embroidery or hand-beading, Bragais blends different fabrics and textures to create clothing for women who not only “dare to be different”, but also want an oeuvre that emphasizes creativity and sophistication.
With past shows in Syracuse, New York, Los Angeles, Honolulu, Singapore and her native Philippines, Bragais has been featured in The Philippine Star, The Manila Bulletin and The Philippine Daily Inquirer. Her Wedding Gowns have been featured in Wedding Essentials, Metro Weddings, Wedding Digest, and the Asian Bride. She has also been a guest on popular television shows as a resource person in fashion and image such as Good Morning Kuya, Unang Hirit, Rise and Shine and ANC.
As a little girl, Delby remembers a school activity where her teacher asked the class to bring their most beautiful dress for a parade. It was only after all her classmates had put on their princess like gowns that Delby realized that what she had was a yellow nightgown. This was her first experience of feeling" not enough" as she promised herself that she would not want for dresses again.
This memory has also made her recognize that, no doubt, there are many other women who feel “not beautiful enough” or “not rich enough” or “not good enough”. This has inspired Bragais to reinvent herself and become the highly recognized fashion designer and image consultant she is today. Her motto reflects her conviction that “with Hope, dreams do come true...”.
Bragais graduated cum laude from the University of the Philippines with a master’s degree in business administration. A product of the Fashion Institute of Technology in continuing education, Bragais is the author of the book “The Purple Pig Wears Red Lipstick” and the creator of the “Purple Power Program” for personal and business success. Bragais is the recipient of AICI (Association of Image Consultants International) 2013 Award of Excellence and the 2015 AICI President’s Award for outstanding contribution to the Image Industry.
The introduction of the line will also include custom designed jewelry by Marisa Pellegrini, owner and designer of Atlanta-based Expect Compliments. Marisa has a passion and an eye for color and style, and you can see it in her work. Each piece is created with her distinctive mix of textures, colors, and shapes. She sources her materials globally, seeking out unusual stones, beads, crystals and other embellishments to make each one a work of art.
Marisa studied fashion in Switzerland and continued her studies in Arizona, where she fell in love with the beauty of the Southwest. Marisa enjoyed a satisfying career in the non-profit arena, while pursuing her passion for jewelry design in her spare time. Several years ago, the time was right for Marisa to devote herself full-time to her fashion and jewelry design business, and "Expect Compliments" was born. www.ExpectCompliments.com
