How To Complete The Proposal

This section will help you complete your proposal. Each section corresponds to a section on the proposal.

A.  Presenter Information

B.   Session Format

Concurrent Sessions:

    • Open to all conference attendees (included in the Conference Registration fee).
    • 2 hours – no breaks.

Keynote Speaker –General Session:

    • Open to all conference attendees (included in the Conference Registration fee).
    • 2 hours – no breaks.

C.  Educational Level of Session
To determine the level of consultant your content is most appropriate for, please use the following guidelines:

Beginner

  • relatively new to the image industry
  • may or may not have any formal image training
  • seeking foundational concepts and knowledge

Intermediate

  • has been in business 3–5 years
  • has attended previous AICI Conferences and/or has had previous training
  • is focused on application of foundational knowledge
  • wants to expand services/products and/or take their business to the next level

Advanced

  • the “seasoned” consultant who has been in business 6+ years
  • has had extensive training and has attended many AICI Conferences
  • may be a trainer in the industry
  • has mastered technical image skills
  • Is interested in multiple income streams, advanced technology, managing client overload, working with employees, etc.

D.  Session Title
It should intrigue and inform - Limit of 7–8 words or less.

E.   Session Description
150 words highlighting benefits to AICI members.
This describes your session and its benefits to the participants. This will be included in the Annual Conference App as well as on AICI’s website.
Materials subject to editing.

F.   Biographical Sketch              
75 words highlighting your experience and credentials.
Your bio will appear with your session description in the Annual Conference App and on AICI’s website.
Materials subject to editing.

G.  Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes are actions that the participant will be able to take as a result of taking this session, OR actions that the participant will take during the course to achieve the result.

The number and complexity of the Learning Outcomes is determined by the presenter, and should reflect the proposed Educational Level of the session .
Actions are measurable or observable. “Learn” and “understand” are not actions.

Examples of stated Learning Outcomes:

  • Participants will be able to list five women’s garment details and silhouettes.
  • Participants will be able to identify the garment details that balance the body shape of each of the 10 models presented to the class.
  • Participants will be able to name the details and silhouettes with 80% accuracy.

H.    Areas of Core Competencies
The AICI Core Competencies identify the knowledge, skills, abilities and behaviors required for success as an Image Consultant. On the proposal form, check all that applies for your session. Within the Core Competencies, there is member interest in presentations on marketing and promotion, business identity and branding, writing effective proposals, technology and e-commerce, budgeting, profit growth, customer service, exit strategy, personal effectiveness, time management and the like.

I. Testimonial Letters

Please submit two (2) testimonial letters with references that confirm and support the previous presentation or teaching of this (or similar) subject matter.
These letters can be PDF documents sent with your proposal form or email testimonials.

J.   Professional Photograph

Please submit a professional color head shot in .jpeg or tiff format, minimum 300 dpi. This will be used in conference promotion and marketing if you are selected to present.

Next Steps After Acceptance

You will be contacted if you have been accepted as a presenter. You will then be required to submit a Training Plan, outlining specifics of how your presentation will flow and materials/equipment necessary. Please review this requirement in advance by downloading the information from the AICI website. Go to www.aici.org/Continuing_Education/CEU_Program_Approval/CEU_Program_Approval.htm, and then click on Training Plan Template. 

  1. Send your Speaker Agreement – Due date February 15, 2015
  2. Training Plan Application  - Due date April 15, 2015
  3. Session Handout  - Due Date April 15, 2015
