Qualifications of Membership
TO BE QUALIFIED ONE NEEDS TO: - Be AICI Certified - CIP or CIM
- Must have NO record of Code of Ethics cases or violations
- MEET 5 OUT OF 10 REQUIREMENTS
To apply for the Distinguished Member designation, candidates must meet 5 out of these 10 requirements:
- Be an active member of AICI, Be 60+ years old, OR an active member for at least 15 years.
- Have held an international board position or Chapter president board office for two (2) years
- Be a founder of an AICI Chapter.
- Have a track record of AICI professional awards or from other award giving organizations.
- Chairing a Global Committee for two (2) years ( example: DEI, Sustainability)
- Significant technical contributions: publications, textbooks curricula, successful product development, patents, standards, etc.
- Must have achieved a significant level of substantial professional contributions: service to professional societies, community and civic action involvement, etc.*
- Must have achieved a significant level of accomplishment or made a significant impact in the field of AICI. It means they demonstrate substantial depth and breadth of understanding of the field, including creating new applied ideas, guidelines/research paper, handbooks, etc.*
- Served as a mentor and role model, guiding career development for others and exhibiting eminence by contributing to the field beyond the norm.*
- Attended 4 global conferences in the past 15 years of membership.
*Evidence may be any of the following:
- Documentation of contribution – copies of presentations or papers delivered at conferences, records of committee memberships, leadership roles held in professional associations, letters of recommendation, etc.
- Testimonials and references - Request 3 testimonials or letters of recommendation from colleagues, peers, and those who have directly benefited from your professional and civic contributions. These endorsements can help to validate and contextualize your impact within the broader community.
- Quantifiable Impact: Where possible, provide evidence of the impact of your contributions. It may include metrics such as the number of individuals served, funds raised for AICI, charitable causes, successful initiatives implemented, or the growth of membership or participation in the organizations and causes you have been involved with.
- Portfolio Presentation: Compile your documentation and evidence into a well-organized portfolio that showcases your professional and civic contributions. This may include artifacts, photographs, media coverage, and any other tangible evidence of your involvement in various activities.
- Published Work and Media Presence: Highlight any articles, blog posts, books, or other written content you have authored that have contributed to the knowledge base or public understanding of image consulting. Media coverage, interviews, or appearances in industry-relevant publications, websites, or broadcasts can also validate your impact and expertise.
- Served as Mentor or Coach for CIP or CIM applicants
- Collaborative Projects and Partnerships: Document any collaborations with other professionals, businesses, or organizations that have resulted in notable achievements or advancements within the field of image consulting. This could include joint projects, cross-industry initiatives, or partnerships demonstrating your ability to impact the industry.
Privileges of Membership
- Serve on local and global committees
- May vote, hold office and use AICI Member logo
- May present at regional and international conferences and be paid same as AICI Members
- May contribute to AICI Global Magazine
- May be a CEU Provider and pay training programs renewals
- Maintain good standing throughout the five years of the Distinguished Member designation, or the designation will be forfeited.
- May be listed in any online or printed Membership Directory under their Certification Level with "Distinguished" after their name.
- Pay 65% certification renewal fee of $195 every 3 years
- Waived off the CEU obligation of 2/4 CEU to renew certification
- Pay 65% of AICI Membership dues of $156 annually
- Once a "Distinguished" member reaches the age of 80, they will be assigned "Prestige" membership.
- "Prestige" members have all the privileges of Distinguished membership but are exempt from all AICI membership dues and obligations.
- "Prestige" members can be CEU Providers and must pay for the training programs and their respective renewals.
- The former presidents of AICI International are "Prestige" members.
Renewal and Recognition
At the end of the first five-years of Distinguished Membership and every five years thereafter, Distinguished Members must renew their Distinguished Member status by demonstrating any of the following:
- Continuous maintenance of membership throughout the prior five years;
- Attendance to one or more Global or Regional Conference during the prior five years or,
- have conducted a tele class or,
- have conducted a session in a recent Conference or ,
- have contributed with an article to the Global Magazine or,
- have worked in a new committee.
- May be a CEU Provider and pay training program renewals.
Distinguished Members will be recognized as follows:
- A Lapel Pin Awarded at the Global Conference
- Certificate Awarded at Global AGM Awards Ceremony
- Electronic badge for use in email, LinkedIn, social media
- Right to put the initials AICI DM after their name
Responsibilities
- Uphold responsibilities as outlined in the AICI Bylaws, Section III: Membership
- Uphold AICI Accreditation Code of Conduct and Standards of Professional Behavior, and have no outstanding accreditation issues
